Health & Recreation
The south Falkirk woodlands provide attractive outdoor spaces for healthy exercise and recreational activities.
In the Falkirk area Braveheart weekly walks with leaders have no inclines and have been chosen for people who have had heart attacks. The short walks are from 1/8th mile to 2 miles.
The routes of two new Braveheart Walks, introduced in 2008, take advantage of the new path network in Lionthorn Community Woodland.
South Falkirk Environmental Action Plan is encouraging beneficial relationships, with
greater community involvement in the management of local green space and better use of the local woodlands by schools and groups.
There are opportunities for volunteering and to carry out wildlife surveys and practical work to benefit the wildlife.
The improved access is encouraging people to be involved in more physical activity and have a greater awareness and interest in
the environment.
